Meet Thomas

My friend, Morgan Huneke is releasing a new book! This week, I have the privilege of sharing two posts with you. Earlier this week, I did an author interview with Morgan. Today, I have a character spotlight  of Thomas. To find more posts about the book, check out the schedule here.

About the Book

God, please look after Adriel. Keep him safe and keep him from acting foolish. And please help him to be able to find me.

Rae knew she could trust God to look after both of them. It was all she had now.

The Time Captives have been reunited. The rightful king has been freed. Now all that remains is to defeat the strytes who still hold a tyrannical rule over the people of Calhortz. But with their lack of soldiers, it’s a task that is easier said than done. They need allies, but are they worth it when it requires facing ghosts from their pasts?

Returning to his home country only brings the loss of Adriel’s family to the forefront of his mind. His determination to find Rae has never ceased, but now that determination could potentially destroy all that he and the Time Captives have been working towards. And his new-found faith may not be able to withstand the challenge.

Will they be able to set aside their personal struggles for the sake of the freedom of all or will they allow their pasts to consume them? Will they manage to win back Crannig Castle from the rule of the strytes? The fate of Calhortz hangs in the balance.

Crannig Castle is the final book of the Time Captives trilogy, a tale of faith, family, fantasy, and a fight for truth and freedom.

Character Spotlight: Thomas

Physical Appearance: Small and skinny, brown hair, gray eyes.

Age: Physically 12. Actually 172.

History: Thomas left Creighton Hill to enter Calhortea in the year 1840. He was a quiet and studious boy, quite good in his lessons, and very thoughtful and observant. Not long after his entrance into Calhortea, he ended up in the Tower at Crannig Castle with George and Camthalion. He spent decades with the two of them, and they were eventually joined by Mary and Abigail. They rescued Camthalion’s family and a maid named Ranna, but failed to escape themselves, instead killing King Mudan and landing themselves in the dungeon. Once the rest of the Time Captives arrived, they escaped successfully and freed the rightful king of Calhortz. Now Thomas is helping the others prepare for war.

Author’s Notes: Thomas was named after Thomas Jefferson, and thus I used him as a bit of a model for my character. Thomas Hubbard is smart, detail oriented (Jefferson measured his pea plants every day and recorded the weather), good with words…but my Thomas did become his own character. He actually surprised me a bit. He tends to be very quiet and unobtrusive, but when he has something to say, he’s willing to say it, and it turns out to be quite profound. He’s a theological thinker, and he gets the chance to display this after a key event in Crannig Castle.
